“Mohamed” (not his real name) is a blogger and journalist in Benghazi, Libya. After taking a photo of an army vehicle, he was imprisoned for six days where he and several other prisoners were beaten and raped. He is still too ashamed to tell anyone what happened to him. Taher Moslimany and Rita Isaac are madly in love. Both are Palestinian, but he lives in Israel and she lives in Gaza. Carel Wiemers in the Netherlands had almost forgotten his childhood friend Hans - until he saw a picture of him in an exhibition featuring children who were sent to concentration camps.
Then Carel realized he was there the day the Nazis came for Hans and his family and how - had it not been for the breathtaking courage of Hans’s mother- he’d have been sent to the camps, too.
